(Banks) Mercury · tested layout

Mercury
statements, read.

Drop a borrower's Mercury statements into DepositDesk and get eligible deposits, exclusions with reasons, NSF counts and qualifying income, in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

(01) The layout

What DepositDesk looks for in Mercury statements.

  • Mercury-style statements list money in and out in a single signed amount column with a running balance, dated like Jun 02.
  • DepositDesk treats positive amounts as deposits and can infer direction from the balance change when a sign is missing.
  • Processor payouts (Stripe, Square, Shopify) are kept as income; transfers between the borrower's own accounts are flagged for exclusion.

We test against synthetic statements built to match this layout, not real customer statements. If a Mercury statement doesn't read cleanly, email [email protected] (no statement attached, just the layout issue) and we'll fix it.

(02) Getting the PDFs

Ask for the statement, not a printout.

Download the monthly statement PDF from the Mercury dashboard. Use the statement, not a transactions CSV.

Bank statement programs generally want the most recent 12 or 24 consecutive months, every page.

(03) What gets flagged

Exclusions, with the reason recorded.

  • Transfers between the borrower's own accounts (e.g. “Online transfer from savings”) are excluded by default. Processor payouts like Stripe, Square and Shopify are kept.
  • Refunds, reversals, returns, chargebacks, loan proceeds and interest are flagged for exclusion; one tap overrides it.
  • NSF and overdraft items are counted per month and checked against the lender's tolerance when you pick lender rules.
  • Large deposits over your threshold (50% of the monthly average by default) are flagged to source.

(04) FAQ

Questions brokers ask.

Does DepositDesk read Mercury bank statements?

Yes. DepositDesk is tested against a Mercury-style statement layout. It finds the deposit lines, checks them against the statement total, and flags transfers, refunds, NSFs and large deposits. Statements are read in your browser and never uploaded.

What if a statement is scanned?

Scanned PDFs and phone photos are read with OCR in your browser. Check each figure against the statement; if a page can't be read, you can type that month's totals.

Can I use Mercury personal and business statements?

Yes. Choose Business or Personal in the tool. Business statements apply an expense factor and ownership; personal statements count eligible deposits, unless the lender's rules say otherwise.
